The Family - Psalm 127:1-5
Sunday, February 14, 2010 at 8:00AM In our North American culture today, families come in many diverse forms. While the traditional family of a mom and dad married only once does exist, the contemporary family more often than not consists of a blended conglomeration of children resulting from the multiple marriages of moms and dads, which in turn bring the children from prior marriages into new ones. Also commonplace in our culture today are single parent families, where a mom or a dad are raising their children solo. While there are numerous sociological, psychological and needless to say, spiritual reasons for the change in the make-up of our families, our focus this morning will be on the God-ordained function of the family. This morning as we acknowledge and celebrate St. Valentines Day and National Marriage Week, we are reminded that the Scripture exalts the family and both the father and mother from cover to cover. This morning we want to give a gigantic “Hip hip hooray” for the family, whichever form yours might be.
